"Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
-R. Frost
Ask me, 10 years ago, if this was the path I imagined for myself. I can tell you right away, the answer would have been no. However, as I've progressed through my teaching career, I've had opportunities that surprised me and, occasionally, intimidated me. I was asked to be a leader at times I considered myself the apprentice. When these opportunities presented themselves, admittedly, I was uncertain whether or not I wanted to pursue them. Luckily, I made the brave choices; the daring choices. Through these acts of leadership, I discovered a passion for service and supporting others - the same passion that inspired me to be a special education teacher first. Eventually, I felt as though working in educational leadership was my calling. This process of self discovery is what drove me to pursue an administrative license.
I want to extend gratitude toward my family, my mentors at work, and especially to my husband, for believing in my ability and encouraging me to take a risk and make a big change. I'm grateful for all the unique opportunities that have shaped me into the educator I am, and forged a path I am eager to continue following.
